Before carrying out an arms raid on a police barracks it was necessary to ensure the officers inside could not call for reinforcements. These wire cutters were used by an IRA unit to disconnect RIC barracks telegraph wires, which would leave them isolated before the main attack. They were seized by the British military in a raid on a building connected with the IRA in Dublin.Suíomh:
