Revolver of James Slattery of The Squad

This French revolver belonged to Colonel James Slattery of The Squad, also known as the 12 Apostles, the counter-intelligence and assassination group founded by Michael Collins. Slattery served in the 1916 Rising in the Jacob’s and St Stephen’s Green area and was interned in Frongoch afterwards. On his release he joined E Company, 2^nd Battalion, Dublin Brigade, and became one of the founding members of The Squad in 1919. He took part in Bloody Sunday, when 14 British agents of The Cairo Gang were assassinated on 21^st November 1920. Slattery was one of the seven IRA gunmen  at 22 Lower Mount Street.
