Raids and Reprisals - Bloody Sunday

Automatic pistol, Liam Tobin, The Squad

Automatic pistol, Liam Tobin, The Squad

Liam Tobin was a member of the counter-intelligence and assassination unit The Squad, and Chief Intelligence Officer under Michael Collins. He was a key figure in the Intelligence War, coordinating the IRA’s double agent and spy network in ‘G’ Division and Dublin Castle, and planning the assassinations of members of the British forces, including November 1920’s Bloody Sunday killing of members of the Cairo Gang. This C.G. Haenel Suhl automatic pistol belonged to Tobin, and would have been carried by him for back-up protection.
