Funeral of the Loughnane Brothers, Gort, November 1920

The burned bodies of the Loughnane Brothers; Patrick and Harry, who were tortured and killed by British forces, (thought to be Black and Tans) at Gort in South Galway in November 1920. Their bodies are shown in their coffins, with the lids removed, held upright for the photograph by a group of men of the locality. Their sister is located to the right of the coffins, but out of shot of this photograph.
