Anthony Haughey and Lauretta Igbosonu, a founding member of the Global Migration Collective, met eighteen years ago outside Mosney Reception Centre, and have worked together since, producing video works, films, public art interventions, and performances.
In their wider collaborations they have explored urgent questions in relation to migration and citizenship. In 2008 they produced the seminal artwork How to be a Model Citizen, performed by Lauretta on RTE’s The View. More recently they were awarded a public art commission by Fingal County Council to produce the film trilogy Assemble (2021).
One of Anthony’s first projects for his residency was a collaboration with Lauretta and Nwanne Diuto Women’s Group, the resulting artwork, A Dress for Akunma, explored the museum’s collections and early forms of language in Ireland and Nigeria generating a transcultural dialogue.
