DISCOVER: Saturday Craft Workshops

Block Printing Workshop with artist Liz Nilsson

Make and Do: Saturday Craft Workshops

To celebrate Age & Opportunity's Bealtaine festival at Collins Barracks in 2014, the Museum held a number of Make and Do: Saturday Craft Workshops which celebrated creativity and hands on learning. The workshops were led by a number of talented and well known artists and craftspeople such as Caroline Ryan, Cathy Hayden, Liz Nilsson, and Deirdre Rodgers.

Participants were given the opportunity to explore a range of traditional and contemporary techniques from printmaking and basket weaving to block printing and glasswork. Each session took inspiration from Irish cultural heritage, whether through the Eileen Gray exhibition, Museum collections, or through the poetry of Seamus Heaney.

These engaging workshops invited attendees to reconnect with their creative side and to produce their own unique pieces to take home. All whilst in the warming and welcoming environment of the National Museum.
