Over 90 years, the National Museum of Ireland has been collecting examples of a particular chair type known as the 'Sligo' or 'Tuam' chair. Our Irish Chair: Tradition Revisited is a temporary exhibition in which the Museum's full collection of these chairs is displayed for the first time. The exhibition takes a closer look at this chair type and its place in the story of Irish design.
The National Museum of Ireland, Kildare Street will be closed to the public on Wednesday, 17th September 2025.
