Celebrate an evening of history, art and music at the National Museum of Ireland for Culture Night 2024

From interactive handling sessions and live musical performances to thought-provoking exhibitions and captivating tours on Ireland’s military history, there’s something for everyone to discover and enjoy across our museum sites in Dublin and Mayo. 

The nineteenth edition of Culture Night will take place from 5pm - 8pm on Friday, 20 September 2024.

Supported by the Arts Council, Culture Night/Oíche Chultúir is an annual all-island public event and a great opportunity for people to enjoy a range of specially programmed cultural activities at hundreds of participating locations, including museums, theatres, galleries, arts centres and more. This year's theme is 'One Night For All'

The National Museum of Ireland - Natural History, Merrion Street, Dublin 2 is closed for refurbishment.

Explore Ireland’s Military History: Culture Night at Collins Barracks

Attention history enthusiasts! The National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts and History is the place to be this Culture Night for all-things military history. Join us for thought-provoking tours and hands-on sessions that bring the past to life. Unravel Ireland's complex role in WWI, uncover who was court-martialled and imprisoned at Collins Barracks after the 1798 Rebellion, and even discover the surprising recipes featured in a WWII cookbook. FIND OUT MORE

Mayo based artist and musician Breda Mayock will present an in conversation event called 'Alice Maher - ART at the Museum' with one of Ireland’s most respected and influential contemporary artists - Alice Maher. They will discuss Alice’s life and art and the mesmerising ‘Bee Dress’ (1994) which is on loan from the Ulster Museum in association with the exhibition The Murmur of BeesFIND OUT MORE
