Reconnect to culture, heritage and history with a Museum tour this summer

Public tour of the National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks

This summer, the National Museum of Ireland invites you to reconnect to culture, heritage and history by taking a free public tour of our Museum galleries in Dublin and Mayo.

Together with one of our experienced tour guides discover what life was like from Stone Age to Medieval Ireland, experience the life of Irish soldiers who served in the British Army during World War One or learn about Ireland's temperate climate and why it is similar and different to other climates across the world.

Our spotlight feature event is a the ISL (Irish Sign Language) Highlight Tour of the National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology on Saturday, 22 July at 2pm.

All events are free and no booking is required.


National Museum of Ireland - Country Life, Castlebar, Mayo

Journey back in time and marvel at the innovation and endurance of our rural ancestors through the Irish Folklife Collections, discover more about the life of the Fitzgerald family and learn about the architectural style of Turlough Park House and Woodland Gardens. Every Sunday at 2pm & 3pm.  FIND OUT MORE

Throughout July, join Museum Educators at the National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks on a variety of engaging free family tours exploring the Museum and its collection. Booking not required, however spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. FIND OUT MORE 


National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology, Kildare Street, Dublin 2

Discover what life was like from Stone Age to Medieval Ireland. Learn about perfectly preserved fish traps from the Mesolithic, gold objects from the Bronze Age, and iconic Early Medieval treasures of the ‘Tara’ Brooch and the Ardagh Chalice from Early Medieval Ireland. FIND OUT MORE
 

Join a family tour of the Viking Ireland exhibition at the Museum to learn all about the Vikings in Ireland. See a replica fishing boat, examine the beautiful oval brooches worn by Scandinavian women, and discover ice skates made of bone! Discover what life was like in Viking Dublin, and see the wider impact that the Vikings had on Ireland. This tour is for families, but all ages are welcome to join!  FIND OUR MORE
 

Join our FREE ISL public tours to find out more about life in Ireland from the Stone Age to Early Medieval Ireland and see some of Ireland's most iconic treasures at the Museum. An interpretor will be present on this tour to provide Irish Sign Language (ISL) interpretation. FIND OUT MORE
