Public Talks - Creativity in Practice - Irish Jewellers & Silversmiths Guild
Free
Join us for four public talks by leading Irish designers and makers at Collins Barracks on Sunday, 28th April.
Creativity in Practice will see four makers discuss their approaches to innovation and design in their respective fields:
Conor Clarke
Conor is the Founder and Course Leader of Design West – an annual international summer design school in Connemara – and co-founder and Director of Design Factory, an award-winning design studio based in Dublin.
Cóilín O Dubhghaill
Cóilín is a silversmith producing work that explores vessel forms through a study of process, materials and colour. He exhibits his work internationally and has pieces in collections including the National Museum of Ireland, the Goldsmiths’ Collection, London, and the Marzee collection, Netherlands. Cóilín currently lectures in the National College of Art and Design, Dublin.
Inga Reed
One of Ireland's most celebrated and award winning contemporary jewellery makers, Inga is attracted to what she terms the evidence of ‘organic engineering’ found all around her. Inga creates pieces which echo the intricacies of the natural world, the forms and structures of plants and the myriad textures inform her designs.
Seliena Coyle
An award-winning jewellery designer, curator and educator from Derry, Northern Ireland, Selena creates original and contemporary jewellery that combines traditional and unexpected materials. Her work is a comment on the much-changed political and economic context of modern Ireland.
The talks will take place from 11am to 1pm in the Palatine Room at Collins Barracks. Booking is essential.
