Pop-up talks / Proclaiming a Republic: The 1916 Rising

If you are missing some of our guided tours, have a listen to our new online series of short talks based on selected objects, presented by Museum guides and staff.

This is a series of short films focusing on artefacts on display in the exhibition Proclaiming a Republic: The 1916 Rising at the National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks, Dublin 7. Our guides and members of our team were asked to select an object from the exhibition that resonated with them in some way, and give a short talk about that object.

  • Renata Pekowska, Museum Guide, talks about the Proclamation

  • Declan Brady, Museum Guide, talks about the rugby ball used to play Gaelic games by Irish prisoners in Frongoch, Wales
