Virtual visit at the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life
Our Museum galleries may be closed for now due to COVID-19 public health guidelines, but you can still enjoy a virtual visit. Use this 3D viewer to see some of our most popular exhibitions.
Virtual Tour - Level A
This area provides an introduction to folklife, folklore and the concept of romance versus reality. There is also a display of traditional dress from the Aran Islands, including home spun woollen garments, knitted jumpers, caps and pampooties (traditional cowhide shoes).
Virtual Tour 2 - Life on Land and Water
This exhibition shows how a traditional Irish farmer worked in tune with the seasons to grow and gather food. Learn about fishing methods and boats used by those who turned to the sea, the river and the lake for their harvest.
Virtual Tour 3 - Trades and Crafts
In this exhibition, visitors can observe the hand-made tools and objects which were crafted using locally sourced materials by the local blacksmith, wood turner or carpenter. Trades were often handed down from generation to generation.
