Pailliún IMMRAM / Caoineadh na Máthar: IMMRAM Pavillion/Mother’s Lament On Sight 2019 – Awarding of commission to Niamh McCann The National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, Mayo County Council Arts Service and Mayo Artsquad are pleased to announce the launch of IMMRAM Pavillion/Mother's Lament, by artist Niamh McCann. Speaking at the launch, Niamh McCann described the sculpture as having "taken two aspects of the Museum Collection – the vernacular boat and the vernacular architecture collections and combined them to make a piece that looks and learns from the craft making of the original objects and talks about travel, shelter, memory and absence". Artist Biography Niamh McCann is a Dublin-based visual artist who currently works out of the Fire Station Artists Studios (FSAS). Niamh is a recipient of various Arts Council of Ireland awards, and fellowships at Cemeti Arthouse, Indonesia; HIAP, International Artists' Residency, Helsinki, Finland, URRA Artist Residency, Argentina and of Perspective and EV+A exhibition awards. Her work is represented in the collections of the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the OPW, Limerick City Gallery, Swansea City Council, The London Institute and the Hiscox Collection, London.
