St Patrick's badge, National Folklife Collection

Learn more about the history of St Patrick's Day and craft your own St Patrick's badge with this special 'Museum at Home' online event - available to watch back now.

Join Tom Doyle from our Education Team to have a go at making a traditional St. Patrick’s badge from recycled and upcycled materials. These colourful badges were traditionally made and worn by children to honour our patron saint on his feast day and there are many examples of them in the National Folklife Collection.

Why not share your creations with us by posting some pictures of your finished badges on social media, using the hashtag #MuseumatHome. We'd love to see how you get on!

You can also hear from Clodagh Doyle, Keeper of the Irish Folklife Division, on some of the history and customs associated with St Patrick's Day.

These videos will premiere on the Museum's Youtube Channel and on Facebook at 2pm on Saturday, 13 March.
