Celebrating Easter in Poland and Ireland: Similarities and Differences
Free
Join Dr. Alicja Piotrowska from the Department of Cultural Anthropology at the University of Lodz to discover how Easter was celebrated in Poland and the similarities to how we celebrate this festival here in Ireland.
This is the inaugural event in what we hope will be a long series exploring the similarities and differences between our two countries.
During the event, Aga Wypychowska from the Bardzo Ladnie foundation will demonstrate easy techniques of egg decorating and Dr. Alicja Piotrowska will discuss Polish Easter traditions.
This event is presented in conjunction with the temporary exhibitions Polish Folk Art - Beliefs, Colour and Form and Paul Strzelecki: A Forgotten Polish Hero of the Great Irish Famine.
If you would like to have a go at decorating your own egg during the workshop, all you need is a boiled egg and some of the following materials: felt pen, scissors, glue, paper and some poster or acrylic paints.
Please note this event will be streamed live at https://bardzoladniengo.clickmeeting.com/polish-easter-traditions. and will be available to watch back on the Museum's YouTube Channel. Subscribe to our Youtube Channel to receive notification of when it is available.
