HEARTH documentary launch

The National Museum of Ireland at Turlough Park is delighted to host the official launch and screening of a thought-provoking new documentary exploring a unique art project called Hearth - Art for Older People at Home.

Minister for Rural and Community Development and Minister for Social Protection Dara Calleary TD, will perform the official launch at 12noon on Friday, 2 May 2025.
 
The documentary showcases the transformative impact of weekly art workshops for older individuals in their homes. 

Founded in 2009 by artists Deirdre Walsh and Breda Mayock, Hearth connects professional artists with older people in Co. Mayo, enhancing well-being and creativity.

The film, directed by Mary Deely and Eamonn Dunne, was made possible by the Arts and Health Documentation Bursary 2024.

Hearth is funded by Creative Ireland and supported by Mayo County Council Arts Service.
