Join artist Carmel Balfe to create your own spooky Halloween mask!

In this imaginative workshop you will have the opportunity to make your own Halloween mask inspired by images of traditional Halloween masks from the Irish Folklife Collection of the National Museum of Ireland. There will be lots of unusual materials to play with. So get crafty and have fun creating your own, unique mask that will make your Halloween trick-or-treating adventure this year a special one!

This workshop will take place on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October in the Courtyard Education Room and is suitable for families with children aged 5+. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Three workshop sessions are available on Saturday 26 October at the following times:

Session 1:  10.30am–11:30am 
Session 2:  12noon–1pm 
Session 3:  2:30pm–3:30pm 

Two workshop sessions are available on Sunday 27 October at the following times:

Session 1: 1:30pm–2:30pm
Session 2: 3pm–4pm

Carmel Balfe is a puppeteer and visual artist. She has been working as a creative practitioner for over 20 years and incorporates the ethos of empowering children to explore their imagination through engagement with the arts in her practice. She works with the Department of Education and Arts Council artist in schools initiatives bringing with her the experience of working for large companies like Disney, Pokemon and Netflix. Focusing on building a good skills base while having fun she aims to make art accessible to everyone.
