Photograph of Tómas Mac Curtain, the IRA officer elected as the Sinn Féin Lord Mayor of Cork in January 1920. He was assassinated by a group of Royal Irish Constabulary officers at his home on 20 March that year. His friend Terence MacSwiney took up the office of Lord Mayor.
