This P.14 British service rifle is believed to be part of a consignment of arms landed at Cork in 1920. This type are often referred to inaccurately as Ross rifles, mistaken for the Canadian made service rifle. The butts were sawn off the rifle in order to fit more units into the transport and to facilitate the landing, and a new butt was made in Ireland to be fitted after the consignment landed. The butt of this rifle clearly does not fit the barrel accurately, making the rifle useless.Location:
