Terre Duffy

Head of Learning and Community

Ms. Terre Duffy was appointed Head of Learning and Community in early 2023 and has responsibility for the leadership, management and strategic direction of the Learning and Community teams across the four sites of the NMI. Using the collections and exhibitions as inspiration, Terre works with her teams to create innovative opportunities to deliver on NMI’s goal to be an inclusive and relevant museum that engages people in critical dialogue about the past, present and future.

Terre has worked in the Learning and Cultural Sectors for over two decades and has particular interest in community & socially engaged practice. Terre graduated with an honours degree in Theatre, Media and English from the University of Ulster and holds an MSc in Community, Enterprise & Tourism Development from UCD. In addition, Terre holds postgraduate qualifications in Project Management, Digital Marketing and most recently in Innovation and Design Thinking from UCD.

Prior to joining NMI, Terre worked with the Irish Heritage Trust, ShinAwiL Independent Television, Design and Crafts Council Ireland, Tangent Innovation Academy Trinity, Waterways Ireland, as Director of a Senior Traveller Training Centre and with the Pilbara Aboriginal Community in Western Australia. Terre has extensive experience in the public service through her work with Local Authority Arts and Culture Departments. Terre has held several board roles including Chair of the Centre for Contemporary Art Derry-Londonderry and is currently a Board Director with the Irish Architecture Foundation.
